Country music fans in Colorado may have heard about the separation of singer Reba McEntire and her husband Narvel Blackstock. After 26 years of marriage, the pair announced their separation in August but didn’t say whether they were planning to divorce. Now, McEntire has announced that she and Blackstock are officially divorced, and the divorce was finalized on Oct. 28.
McEntire took to Facebook to announce her divorce and express her thanks for messages of support. She also said that she and Blackstock remained friends as they have always been. Blackstock is McEntire’s manager, and the two have worked together for 35 years. In the joint statement the pair released in August, McEntire and Blackstock said that they would continue to work together.
McEntire and Blackstock have one son together. In addition to managing McEntire’s musical career, Blackstock’s company represents music artists like Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton. Throughout her career, McEntire has sold over 85 million records. The 60-year-old country singer achieved success in the 1980s with hits like ‘Somebody Should Leave” and ‘How Blue.” McEntire has also enjoyed a successful acting career. From 2001 to 2007, McEntire starred in a sitcom called ‘Reba.”
Divorces can be complicated when spouses own a business together or have careers that are somehow intertwined. A divorce attorney may be able to help an individual to determine the best way to divide a jointly owned business with their ex-spouse. In some cases, divorcing spouses may decide to sell the business and divide the profit. Other divorcing spouses may be able to reach an agreement that could allow the business to continue operating.
