Will Your Divorce Involve Substantial Assets Or Property?
If you are facing divorce and you own significant assets and property, the challenges you will face are more complex than for most people, especially when it comes to the division of property.
What Is Marital Property And What Is Not?
The first question to answer when considering an individual asset or piece of property is whether or not it is part of the marital estate. Under Colorado law, all marital property is divided during a divorce. In general, marital property includes all property acquired during the marriage and excludes property acquired prior to the marriage.
There are exceptions. For example, a spouse can inherit something during the marriage and it can remain the property of that spouse if it is kept separate from the marital estate.
We can work to preserve the assets and property that are meaningful to you.
